The Billion Dollar Radio Market

Once again Los Angeles can lay claim to the biggest radio revenue market in the world, and the only one generating over $1 Billion in sales in 2007.

"It was a challenging year for Radio, but our people stepped up and developed new revenue streams through the multiple platforms of their radio stations. This was our 4th straight year at topping $1 Billion in revenue," said Mary Beth Garber, President of the SCBA.

"We realize the coming year will be doubly challenging, given the state of the local economy. But we expect we will see an upturn with the advent of the Portable People Meter electronic measurement (PPM) in October 2008 and the continuing discovery by advertisers that radio provides something unique: emotionally connected, engaged listeners available in small 'virtual neighborhoods' who respond to advertisers who become part of those neighborhoods."
