Stanley Spero: May 18, 1995

Long-time broadcaster Stan Spero was formally presented with the Southern California Broadcasters Associationís Lifetime Achievement Award on May 18, 1995 at a testimonial dinner at the Ma Maison/Sofitel Hotel.

Spero began his career as an account executive at then classical music station KFAC, resigning two years later to begin a 42-year career at KMPC radio. He became General Sales Manager in 1953, Vice President & General Manger in 1968 and Vice President, Sports in 1979. Spero has been closely associated with local and network broadcasts of the Los Angeles Dodgers, California Angels, Los Angeles Rams, UCLA and USC football and basketball and the Los Angeles Clippers.

A tireless worker for community organizations, Spero is a past Chairman of the Southern California Broadcasters Association, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and Permanent Charities and a past president of the Hollywood Ad Club, (now HRTS). He served the American Advertising Federation and Greater Los Angeles Visitors and Convention Bureau at the Board of Directors level. Spero is also a pas Governor of the A.A.W.

Reflecting on his time in the business, Spero said, "Iíve had a lot of fun in radio. It's a powerful medium that influences a lot of people in a positive way. It's like working in a candy store."
